A TEAM of physics pupils at Greenfaulds High School is hard at work on a space experiment.

Six boys, who are all taking Advanced Higher physics, have entered the European Space Agency’s CanSat contest, which involves building a satellite from a drinks can which is rigged with sensors and launched in a rocket. The CanSat must complete a mission, like gathering sensor information, and be safely recovered.

Teacher Anne Williamson said: “The students all get a lot out of this as it gives a real taste of what it is like to work as part of a team of scientists and engineers.”

The CanSat finals will be held in Norway, and the Greenfaulds High team is hoping to attract a sponsor to help with the potential cost of this trip – enquiries at the school.
