Kilsyth charity event raises cancer cash

Acts and organisers at charity night in Broch, Kilsyth.

A CHARITY fund-raising event at the Broch Bar in Kilsyth raised £1500 for Cancer Research, topping up the £2500 raised at a similar musical event in February.

Craig Johnston who with Shirley Sharkey and Karon Hutson, were responsible for organising the popular event, said: “The response we got from everyone who turned up and donated prizes for the raffle was amazing – and the dance floor was always busy.

“I would also like to thank the eight acts – who came from as near as Kilsyth and as far away as Essex in England – The Two Jodies, Evelyn McEvoy, Stephanie Robertson, Carrie Jones, David Lewis Fyfe, John ‘Obie’ O’Brien and Paul and Kate from Contrast.

“They all gave their time free and the bar manageress provided the function room free of charge for which we are very grateful.

“I’m already looking forward to another fund-raiser in 2013.”
