Kilsyth man organises charity football match

A KILSYTH man is set to face the auld enemy in a charity football match for a hospice who recently had two vans stolen by heartless criminals.

Tommy Twigg, who lives in Manse Road, will ‘represent’ Scotland when his select team take on an English side at the Widnes Vikings Stadium in Runcorn on Sunday, August 12.

The match is being held to raise vital funds for Halton Haven who recently had two of their vans stolen, although one was later recovered.

The theft prompted 41-year-old Tommy, who lived in that area for six months, to do something for the hospice which works tirelessly to help others.

Tommy explained: “I am a carer and I used to live in Runcorn. My brothers still lives there and when I heard about the theft, I decided I want to do something to help.

“I decided to organise a charity football match because I love football, and I chose to support the hospice because I think they do a lot of good work in the area and a lot of their funding is based on people like myself helping them.”
