Record label scores coup
A RECORD label in Cumbernauld has signed a Glasgow band who share a producer with Gary Numan and Tricky, and a London band whose first single is being produced by the same guy who produced the debut album by The Strokes.
Framingo Records, which runs from The Village is a small independent record label.
"We champion small, up and coming bands and bands who are perhaps struggling to get up on the first rung of the ladder to mega stardom and beyond!" said co-woner Andy Frew, a solicitor who set up the label with his pal Aldo Fleming.
The pair have organised a split single release event for the Glasgow band (Little John Rocket) and London-based The Skuzzies at Nice n Sleazy on September 6.
"For such a small label based well out of earshot of the big wigs of the music industry, these two acts are a major coup! The LJR track is produced by Rico , who has worked with Gary Numan and Tricky, and the Skuzzies track is produced by Gordon Raphael who produced the Debut Album by the Strokes! We simply can't believe our good fortune and are excited that this double signing will firmly put Cumbernauld on the music industry map following upon the success of the Dykeenies etc," said Andy.
