I had the very great pleasure of being part of a huge crowd cheering Andy Murray on to victory last Sunday.
Not, I will admit, at Wimbledon, but instead in a campsite in northern France, where a couple of hundred holidaying Scots and a few dozen other nationalities joined in to cheer on the man we can claim as our own local hero.
And he made us sweat it out in the 35 degree heat, but it was worth every tortuous second. And the sense of fun, and pride, when someone at the back started a rousing chorus of Flower of Scotland was fabulous. We tried, without success, to get hold of Andy’s Kilsyth relatives last week - so from this French holiday-maker to them - congratulations!
