Cumbernauld mum makes meningitis awareness plea

Cumbernauld mum Lynsey Burnett is encouraging her local community to Be Meningitis Wise, more especially this week which has been designated Meningitis Awareness Week.
She knows only too well the emotional experience the illness can have on a family – about a year go her 14-month-old daughter Ava was diagnosed with pneumococcal Meningitis.
And this week she urged people to become more aware of the symptoms of meningitis and septicaemia and how to recognise them.
Lynsey’s daughter Ava (pictured) is one of 200 people in Scotland each year who contract bacterial meningitis.
