CHILDREN In Need has received more than £3000 following the 16th annual Burns Supper organised by North Lanarkshire Council.

The event was attended by elected members from Cumbernauld and Kilsyth and was held at the Civic Centre in Motherwell.

A total of £3525 was raised for the children’s charity thanks to a highly successful auction and raffle.

The traditional piping in of the haggis was performed by Cameron Strain and Alastair Leghorn of the North Lanarkshire schools’ pipe band.

Provost Tom Curley said: “This is an occasion I look forward to each year, and it was an honour to host the event which raises so much money for such a worthwhile cause – the BBC’s Children in Need charity.

“I would like to thank all those who have helped to make this year’s event such a success, from the council staff and all the people who have donated raffle prizes, offered sponsorship or purchased a table at the event.

“The charity supports many fantastic projects throughout North Lanarkshire and makes a huge difference to the lives of some of our most vulnerable young people
