Junior games called off

Junior football fixtures in the Cumbernauld and Kilsyth area were hit by weather conditions at the weekend.

Cumbernauld United were scheduled to play host to Newmains United on Saturday.

However, the Euroscot Eng Central League Cup first round tie was called off as Guy’s Meadow was unplayable due to the recent wintry weather.

This Saturday United are due to travel to Renfrew to take on the local side in a Stagecoach West of Scotland Super League First Division game. Kick-off is at 2pm.

Renfrew sit in fourth-bottom position in the league and United will be hoping that they can take all three points to improve on their fifth-top place.

The Cumbernauld United Supporters’ Club bus to Renfrew will leave Guy’s Meadow at 12.10pm and the Town Centre 12.15pm.

Kilsyth Rangers game on Saturday against Kilwinning Rangers was postponed due to Duncansfield Park having several areas still very soft due to the heavy rainfall of recent weeks.

A spokesman for the club said: “The pitch has still not fully recovered from the damage caused by the Scottish Cup tie against Cumnock two weeks ago.”

Weather and pitch conditions permitting Rangers are scheduled to play host to Maybole in the Stagecoach West of Scotland Super League First Division this Saturday.
