“One young person in particular has completely turned her life around. She loves coming to the youth club and gets a lot out of it.
“It’s great to see the club really has made a difference.”
Jackie put forward the suggestion for the club after the local community development trust asked people what they wanted to see set up in the area.
Moodiesburn Youth Club now has 90 young members who take part in a range of activities every Tuesday and Thursday night in the community centre.

Jackie, whose grandson Reiss is a volunteer with the youth club said: “A young student gives drumming and guitar lessons on both nights. This club is particularly popular with the kids.”
The club has strong links with the local community police who regularly visit to build up a good relationship with the young people.
Jackie said: “The kids get on really well with the police officers. It’s all about trust.”
Jackie said the success of the youth club means more volunteers are needed.
