HIPPIES, giant triffids, talking fish, squirting plant pots and a (half) naked chef greeted the 1,000 frollicers entering the weird and wonderful world of Greenbank Gardens last weekend.

The Festival of Frolics took place on Saturday and Sunday, inviting explorers young and old to celebrate the attraction’s 250th anniversary by meeting some colourful
inhabitants.

Mum Victoria Eccles said: “The festival was brilliant and we absolutely loved it. My three-year-old absolutely believed in the talking plant pots — she’s still going on about it!”
