The keys of Kilsyth’s new Methodist Church are now in the hands of Reverend Terry Wright.
The Cornishman who is a keen biker came to Kilsyth two years ago to replace South African minister Reverend Chris Van Staden.
Now his flock has a brand new church which will be officially unveiled at a special service on Sunday, February 7.
Terry (44) described the new church as “awesome” but has an equally high opinion of all who raised roughly £13,000 to add to grant funding.
And he stresses that this group of people is bigger than some might think.
Terry said: “The church members have been fantastic but so too have been their families and friends.
“Some people who do this don’t even go to any church, never mind ours.
“People just like the thought of a church being there. That’s very touching.”
Terry also wants to thank Kilsyth’s other churches for the free use of their facilities and all their prayers throughout.
