A plea has gone out to a former soldier believed to be living in the Kilsyth area to contact organisers of a Diamond Jubilee Re-union event in June.

It’s for men who served in the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders band in 1950s-60s.

Organiser Ernest Carr explained: “We are looking for Walter (Watty) Nimmo who is believed to live in the Kilsyth area.

“Walter and I served together in Cyprus is 1958-61 – he was a bass player with the band, and we would love to have Walter join us for our event on June 12 in the Chelsea Pensioners’ Hospital in London.”

“We have tracked down down living in America, and expect to have two from Plymouth, three from the North of England and one from Cambridge as well as one living in the Royal Chelsea Hospital for retired army personnel.”

If you can help out at all, Mr Carr is based in Sheffield and can be contacted on 0114 2665580.
