Artwork by Holy Cross pupils on permanent display at Falkirk Wheel

PUPILS from Holy Cross Primary School in Croy played a big part in the celebrations surrounding the tenth anniversary of the Millennium Link canal project.

They designed a piece of artwork which was unveiled by Princess Anne at the Falkirk Wheel on Friday, July 6.

Blossom, one of seven roundels created by schools situated near the canal network, was created by the children at a workshop with artists Merlin Currie and Anett Forsyth and taken to the Falkirk Wheel by Hedgewick, which Peter and Alison Currie sailed to Falkirk as part of a 60-boat flotilla.

Michelle Berry, a teacher at Holy Cross, said: ““The schoolchildren really enjoyed the Wheel 10 experience. The project fitted nicely with their biodiversity project and they enjoyed the creative aspect of designing the roundel. It’s also great that the whole artwork will be on permanent display at The Falkirk Wheel close by.”
