CUMBERNAULD’s branch of Blockbuster entered its final days last week as the company went into administration for a second time in October.
The Cumbernauld store, which survived two rounds of closures almost a year ago, is one of 72 stores - one quarter of the total number of surviving stores - being closed across the UK by adminstrators Moorfields Corporate Recovery. More than 450 jobs will go nationwide as a result of these closures.
The store signalled its demise with a closing down sale which saw local people snap up bargains including the latest videogame hits such as Grand Theft Auto V available for sale at half price.
Blockbuster is just one of many high street chains to have struggled in recent years.
