Locals are gearing up for the first chance to have their say on what is turning out to be one of this year’s most controversial proposals to date.

No plans have been submitted to North Lanarkshire Council for a Tesco Express in Condorrat but locals have claimed that the mini-supermark would kill off business in Main Road.

Last month members of Condorrat Social Club voted in principal to allow developers to partially convert the site

Condorrat Community Council chairman Stacey Egan said: “Up until this point the local community haven’t been consulted on the issue of Tesco coming to our village. This meeting was organised in in conjunction with the Tenants & Residents Association as we felt it was time they had their say,’’

No-one from the club was available for comment.

The meeting takes place on Thursday, April 3 in Pollock Halls at 7.3opm.
