Cumbernauld’s most famous son Craig Ferguson recently joined local band Dead Man Fall on stage.

The band, who have just released their latest track Calexico, got a major boost when Ferguson, then host of The Late Late Show on American TV, took a liking to their song Bang Your Drum.

Initially he invited the band to play on his final edition of his show, but problems with their Visa meant they could not attend.

Instead a bunch of A-list celebrities mimed along to the song, which resulted in their downloads going through the roof.

At a gig in Oran Mor on December 23, Dead Man Fall finally got to thank Ferguson in person as he was back in Scotland for Christmas.

He joined them on stage for a performance of Bang Your Drumand later tweeted: “Got my present early - banging a drum with @deadmanfall1 at @OranMorGlasgow”.

Dead Man Fall’s latest offering, Calexico, is partially inspired by the Visa debacle and has proven a firm favourite with News and Chronicle staff.
