Appeal for witnesses after Balloch abduction bid

POLICE are looking into an early morning incident in Balloch last Wednesday (May 11) – where a middle-aged man tried to abduct a lone female.

It is understood that the incident took place after 6.30am near the Balloch roundabout – when a male parked on the main road spied a 35 year old woman walking to Croy Station.

The man is believed to have got out of his car then approached the female. He then tried to chat with the woman – and police say that he then attempted to take her back to his car. Fortunately the female was able to escape – and her next move was to contact police.

Officers are dealing with a distinctive description for the man who is of Asian appearance. He is thought to be in his 50s, of heavy build and balding with grey hair. He was wearing a green blazer and a blue and green checked shirt. The car in question was a green ‘51’ plate old style BMW.

Anyone who recognises the description of the man or the car is asked to contact police on 503900. Alternatively Crimestoppers can be called free and in confidence on 0800 555 111.
