A criminal who absconded from a prison near Dundee has been captured in the Cumbernauld area.
Brian Traynor (37) failed to return to HMP Castle Huntly following a temporary period of leave.
Traynor was reported missing yesterday. Shortly before his recapture police issued a warning not to approach him.
They added that he is known to have ties to the Airdrie and Coatbrdge area.
This is not the first time an escapee from Castle Huntly has been found in Cumbernauld.
In 2007 Robert Foye, initially jailed for attempting to murder a policeman, absconded from an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting at the same prison. After days living rough in the town, he raped a schoolgirl before he was recaptured.
