Cumbernauld and Kilsyth constituency Labour parties have named all the candidates they will field in next May’s council elections.

And it’s been confirmed that all of the existing Labour councillors barring Councillor Bob Chadha will be standing again.

The councillor was dramatically de-selected by grassroots members earlier this month, despite winning an appeal from an earlier selection process when party top brass refused to back him.

The Kilsyth candidates are Jean Jones and Heather McVey,

In Cumbernauld North, the candidates are Barry McCulloch and Tom Fisher.

It’s been confirmed that Allan Graham and Stephanie Griffin will be contending the Cumbernauld South seat.

Stephen Grant and Gillian Fannan will stand in Cumbernauld East.

A Labour party spokesman said: “We are delighted to have such a vibrant and energetic team in Cumbernauld and Kilsyth.

“ With a mix of experience and excellent new candidates, we are extremely confident that we have the best possible team in place to best represent the people of Cumbernauld & Kilsyth.”

Meanwhile, the Scottish Nationalist candidates for the election are not expected to undergo a selection process until the New Year.
