CUMBERNAULD is gearing up for the arrival of the Olympic Torch next week, as it continues its journey around the country before reaching the games in London.

The torch will appear in the New Town on June 13 at 11.41 as part of the St.Andrews to Edinburgh leg of the tour.

An astonishing 8000 torch bearers will have carried the flame by the time it completes the 70-day tour. The torch has already travelled through Wales and Northern Ireland with local heroes and celebrities getting the chance to run with it.

The Torch will travel along the Carbrain ring road during its time in Cumbernauld.
