a MAJOR road renewal programme is set to get under way in Cumbernauld.

The work, which North Lanarkshire Council say will cost £400,000, is planned to start on Condorrat Ring Road on Tuesday, July 5; Condorrat Main Road on Monday, July 18; Seafar Road on Monday, July 25; and Greenfaulds Road on Monday, August 1.

The council says an additional £600,000 of capital spending is available this year for roads projects yet to be determined.

Cumbernauld South councillor Gerry McElroy welcomed the news saying: “This expenditure is timely and will be good news for all road users especially on the road at Condorrat village.

“The works will be done quickly and I hope road users and pedestrians will be patient and appreciate that the upset will be worthwhile”.
