Death crash driver named

The driver of a tanker who died following a crash on the A977 has been named as Alan Thomas Robertson from Cumbernauld.

Tayside Police confirmed that the 63-year-old, from Broomlands Road had been driving an articulated tanker on the A977 Kincardine to Kinross when it was involved in a collision with a Mercedes Sprinter van.

Mr Robertson died at the scene after the tanker’s trailer ended up on its side and the cab broke free and ended up in a field.

The crash took place at Drum at about 4.30pm on Monday, January 9.

The 24-year-old van driver was taken to Queen Margaret Hospital in Dunfermline with minor injuries and later released.

Enquiries into the full set of circumstances are continuing and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.
