NEW energy efficient homes have been built in Twechar as part of a £4.3 million project.
Castle Rock Edinvar Housing Association, part of Places for People, have finished phase one of the development which consists of 41 homes for rent and ownership.
A special event to mark the completion of the first phase of the project was attended by Scottish Government Housing and Transport Minister Keith Brown MSP.
The residents of the village have been involved in the regeneration project and have been working closely with East Dunbartonshire Council.
They help developed the design of the new homes to reflect the character of the village and their own aspirations, and this was done with partners Places for People and the project architects Cooper Cromar.
The Twechar community was also involved in selecting Cruden Building and Renewal, the contractor appointed by Places for People to build the new homes.
As a result of the selection process local residents have benefited from the creation of new work opportunities including six apprenticeships
