This was the scene outside Cumbernauld’s newest community amenity last week when a stack of heaters had to be discarded after they were found to be faulty.

The expensive appliances were brought into the Muirfield Centre which was recently transformed into a gleaming £8 million multi-purpose hub for the social enterprise and small business sector.

However, the heaters were not up to standard and council bosses admit that they have had to get rid of them.

A spokesperson said: “There was a manufacturer’s fault with the radiators and these have been replaced at no cost.”
