Firefighters tackled a blaze at a Cumbernauld home yesterday (Wednesday) at around 1pm.

Crews from Kirkintilloch, Kilsyth and Cumbernauld arrived to find a two-storey terraced home on Ben Nevis Way well-alight.

On arrival, four firefighters donned full breathing apparatus and entered the property to see if anyone was inside.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) spokesman said: “Firefighters immediately began searching for anyone inside the house but thankfully no-one was present. They tackled the flames using two high-pressure water jets and quickly brought the blaze under control.

“Crews then started to ventilate the building and began aggressive stripping away of the kitchen, in order to check for signs of fire spread.”

No one was injured from the incident and an investigation will be conducted.
