THIEVES have incredibly managed to steal a £30,000 hydraulic hammer from Dawn Homes’ Burngreen Brae site on Stirling Road.

The piece of machinery, which weighs in at four tonnes and is six foot high, was being used on the site by the Dow Group to break up rocks from the disused Barrwood Quarry wall.

The equipment was attached to a 30-tonne excavator, meaning the swindlers would have had to fire up the digger to disconnect it.

Sheila Dow, a director at the Lenziemill-based contractor, said: “It makes you angry that they could be so brazen to go in and take something like that.”Now the group has decided to offer a reward of £1000 for information which leads to those responsible being arrested.
