CUMBERNAULD Community Park has its first commemorative bench – a tribute to a man who loved to walk in this most scenic part of the town.

CUMBERNAULD Community Park has its first commemorative bench – a tribute to a man who loved to walk in this most scenic part of the town.

Jim Brown, who was 80, passed away last December after a stroke, but his widow Joan wanted to provide a lasting memento of his presence in this expansive green space which lies north of the A80.

Joan said: “Over the last few years, Jim became less mobile but he tried to do his favourite walk as often as possible – home to Craigmarloch and along the footpath to the schools where he usually remarked there needed to be a seat there!’’
