Fresh appeal over armed would-be thief

POLICE hunting the knifeman who attempted to rob a Chinese takeaway in Cumbernauld have made a fresh appeal for witnesses.

The incident happened during the evening of Thursday, December 29.

A man entered the Oriental Express at Cumbernauld train station and demanded money from the 53-year-old male and 43-year-old female staff.

After a short scuffle in which the male staff member sustained minor injuries, the would-be thief made off.

The suspect, is described as in his mid-20s to mid-30s, around 5ft 9in tall and wore a green chequered jacket. Police say they are following a line of enquiry but are appealing for witnesses to contact them on 01236 503900 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
