Significant improvements are on the way for Cumbernauld and Kilsyth residents of Bield homes, according to chief executive Brian Logan.

He told the group’s annual general meeting a number of “positive, exciting” new moves are on the way, including new homes and and an upgrade of existing stock.

The Bield at Home homecare service is also to be expanded, along with “innovative” services for people with dementia.

Mr Logan said the group – a key provider of local care and support services – must engage more with its tenants despite “difficult times”.

Brian said: “We’re facing budget pressures like never before. Our income is being squeezed and our costs continue to rise.

“And through all of that, our values of caring for each other remains at the forefront of our everyday actions.”

Bield will start 2015 with a detailed consultation with customers, staff and partners in a bid to frame a new five year plan that will preserve standards and also bring in improvements.

Mr Logan added: “I have lots of ideas about what should be in our next modernisation programme.

“But central to all of that will be understanding what our tenants and service users want.

“That means delivering the services and standards that they want and expect.”

Bield is also looking to develop and expand various existing areas, including its dementia evening care service.
