A HIT and run driver who mowed down a man after a nine-hour drinking session has been jailed for more than five years.
Gerard McGougan downed 15 drinks – including pints of lager and vodka chasers – before getting behind the wheel of his Vauxhall Vectra.
He later smacked into David Revells in Cumbernauld and then fled the scene leaving the 33 year-old dead in the street.
The High Court in Glasgow today heard that Mr Revells was “much loved” by his grieving family.
McGougan (46) admitted causing death by careless driving. Before being led to the cells to start his 65-month sentence, Lord Matthews told the father-of-two: “Your family will see you again, but the same cannot be said for Mr Revells’ family.”
