KILSYTHIANS just can’t get enough of historian Willie Chalmers’ work, so his latest offerings are sure to delight many.

Throughout the course of this year, Willie has released several books titled Times Past, Kilsyth, featuring many pictures and detailed captions, which have proved very popular. Now, no fewer than four new volumes have been added to the series, and have just gone on sale priced at £6.50.

Willie has also released a DVD, entitled Kilsyth Hills, which shows striking images of incredible scenes such as Bull Rock, the Carron Dam and the Garrell Burn.

Music from Alastair and Forbes accompanies the pictures and the discs are priced at £4.50.

And, last but not least, Willie’s famous Tartan Calendar, a must for many of the townsfolk, is now on sale, priced at £5.50.

All of the new products are now available at R. A. Cant and Son, on Kilsyth Main Street.

Willie said: “People always love to see pictures of the place, I think that’s why they like these things so much.

“You can describe something to someone and they’ll have an idea, but as soon as they see a picture of it they’ll understand a lot more. It helps people learn about the town and the way it has changed.”
