THE lives of 77 needy children will be changed for the better within the next few weeks thanks to the members of the Burns and Old Parish Church’s Bold Kids Klub.

The youngsters have been busily collecting and packing backpacks to be sent to areas affected by war, famine, poverty or natural disaster by Mary’s Meals.

In total, 58 rucksacks were handed over to Terry McKee, a volunteer with the charity.

The bags contain essential items such as school jotters, pencils and clothing.

In addition, a donation of £177 was handed over - enough to give 19 children a lunch at school for a year.

Locum Minister James Webster and the kind-hearted members of the Bold Kids Klub watched a DVD which followed a backpack from a school in Lanarkshire to Blantyre, Malawi, showing how happy the boys and girls were to receive it.
