Lanark Cornet arrives on Lanimer evening - video
Lanark’s new Lord Cornet Gordon Gray had a huge escort when he arrived at the Cross to make his declaration on Lanimer night.
There was a big turnout of former Cornets and visiting principals from border towns on horseback, and a massed pipe band to herald his arrival.
The cross was packed with people on a hot summery night far removed from the usual Scottish weather, and pipe and silver bands gave stunning displays after Gordon had reported on his checks of Lanark’s marchstones.
