ONCE again the people of Lanark are to be landed with the bill for repairing a botched ‘face-lift’ of the town’s landmark steeple.

On Tuesday South Lanarkshire Council decided to mount the third attempt in 20 years to refurbish the historic structure containing the famous Wallace statue.

Although the council own the building, it will be Lanark’s Common Good Fund which will pick up the near-£14,000 bill for this latest refurbishmnent.
