‘Layla’ at the SEEC

The legendary front man of barnstorming 70’s rock heroes Derek and the Dominoes is at Glasgow’s SEEC on Saturday – where, if only to pacify the audience, he is almost bound to belt out yet another rendition of red-blooded signature tune “Layla”.

Eric Clapton is yet another evergreen icon of British rock at its best, and shows no signs of flagging as he takes his incendiary guitar magic to established fans and also a younger audience keen to get a glimpse of a veteran talent that arguably puts today’s squeaky, mass-manufactured, anodyne bimbettes completely in the shade.

He could have retired decades ago, but – just like Ray Davies, another national treasure – won’t give up the buzz of performing live.

The show starts at 7.30pm, and tickets are available at the box office on 0844394000.
