A Celebration of Learning at Cumbernauld College

A CEREMONY recognising the successes of those involved in learning and development within North Lanarkshire communities was held at Cumbernauld College recently.

The Celebration of Learning event - now in its 11th year - was hosted by North Lanarkshire’s community learning and development partnership.

The partnership is made up of representatives from North Lanarkshire Council, Cumbernauld, Coatbridge and Motherwell colleges, NHS Lanarkshire, Skills Development Scotland and voluntary sector organisations, and it aims to improve life chances in the local area through encouraging learning, personal development and active citizenship.

Speaking at the event, Provost Jim Robertson said: “I am delighted to be able to play a part in what is a hugely significant evening.

“Many award winners have had life-changing experiences after getting involved in community based learning and I am humbled to hear of the many achievements recognised tonight.”

Cumbernauld College principal Martin McGuire, chairman of the partnership, added: “Those celebrated on the evening represented the many thousands who have benefited from the community learning and development approach, which involves real collaboration between the Partnership providers to give the best quality service possible.

“Every winner had a fantastic story to tell and I was astounded by the calibre of entries this year.”
