FEARS of a serious incident sparked in Abronhill last night (Tuesday July 24) after the Strathclyde Police helicopter hovered over the area for several hours.

Locals were at a loss as to why the helicopter was at large but the News & Chronicle has found out why.

Police have confirmed that they mounted a search for a vulnerable missing female who had not returned home that night.

Fortunately the story had a happy ending after the woman was found safe and well.
