Burst gas main forces road closure

A CUMBERNAULD road is closed after workers accidentally hit a gas main.

Police attended North Carbrain Road at around 9.40am today after they received a report that the gas main had been hit whilst work was being carried out.

A police spokesman said the road has been closed as a precaution and there is no need for a local evacuation.

Local diversions are in place and it is expected the road will reopen later today.
