Council put out new strategy for consultation

A STRATEGY which aims to develop North Lanarkshire Council tenants participation and involvement in housing issues is out for consultation.

The Tenant Participation Strategy for 2012-15 follows an initial consultation process which recently took place and feedback from that was used to shape the draft strategy.

The local authority has now issued letters to tenants’ and residents’ groups, Registered Tenants Organisations (RTOs) and the North Lanarkshire Federation of Tenants’ and Residents’ Association for feedback.

The draft is published on the council website and the local authority is keen to hear from any other tenants who have not yet commented before September 28.

Councillor Sam Love, convener of housing and social work services, said: “During the preparation of the strategy, we extensively consulted with tenants and residents.

“We did this in a number of ways including through workshops at conferences, a presentation at the Federations’ open day and consultation at the local chairpersons meetings. In addition, all groups and Registered Tenant Organisations were asked to complete an on-line survey.

“Feedback from the initial consultation was used to shape the document which outlines our commitment to continue to support and resource tenant participation within North Lanarkshire.

“We value the feedback we receive from those who use our services and are keen to get more tenants than ever involved.”

If you would like to comment on the draft or would like a copy issued, please contact Laura Lindsay, communications co-ordinator on 0698 274143 or e-mail Lindsayla@northlan.gov.uk.
