Cumbernauld child in prank call probe

POLICE are investigating a malicious call which saw firefighters spring into action, after a young timewaster got in touch with them via a mobile phone.

The Greenfaulds-based crew raced out to a house in Millcroft Road just before 9am on Monday, February 4, after the youngster claimed that they could see smoke coming out of a house.

When the firefighters arrived at the premises, they realised that the claim was baseless. Their next move was to contact police, who are now attempting to trace the caller.

Anyone with further information on this incident is asked to contact Cumbernauld police on 503900.
