Ed promotes MP Gregg
CUMBERNAULD and Kilsyth’s MP Gregg McClymont has been promoted - after receiving a career-changing call from Labour leader Ed Milliband.
Mr McClymont now moves on to the Labour front bench as an assistant whip. It marks a quick progression for the former Cumbernauld High School pupil who was elected just last May.
The Labour man had previously held the post of parliamentary private secretary to shadow Secretary of State for Scotland Ann McKechin.
Mr McClymont, below, said: “I was surprised and pleased, to get a call from Ed Milliband asking me to become a Whip. It is a new challenge, which I very much look forward to.”
“The downside to this is that I will have to resign from the House of Commons select committees on science and technology, and business, innovation and skills.
“I think Select Committees are important and I have enjoyed the work scrutinising legislation and holding the Government to account.”
