Fiona's set to be a high flyer

Cumberanuld girl Fiona Thompson is looking forward to a high-flying career as an officer in the RAF.

Fiona (23) has just graduated from Royal Air Force College Cranwell as a flying officer and was selected to be an adjutant at her passing out parade earlier this month.

Fiona is a former pupil of Kilsyth Academy.

In 2000 she joined 2496 (Cumbernauld) Air Training Corps, where her dad Jim is an adult warrant officer.

Leaving the ATC aged 18, she went on to study management at Paisley University and joined the university air squadron.

The next step for Fiona is training as a logistics officer, which will see her stationed at RAF Brize Norton, Oxfordshire, for 18 months.
