Green Mile actor who recently visited Cumbernauld dies at 54

A HOLLYWOOD actor who stunned pupils by turning up at Cumbernauld High School in March has passed away, following a heart attack.

The death of The Green Mile star Michael Clarke Duncan at just 54 has shocked Tinseltown – but has also caused sadness at the local secondary.

Brawny Michael, who was six foot five, was taken along to the school by former pupil Craig Ferguson – who filmed a special segment for his Late Late Show on campus.

Some pupils were lucky enough to meet the man they called ‘Big Mike’ and are understandably saddened by his passing.

Headteacher Walter Muir (pictured with Craig Ferguson) said: “Nobody can believe it. The kids really took to the guy, he was very sharp and very much like a real person.”
