Home safe and well in Cumbernauld

GANDALF the vulture is back home safe and well at the Cumbetnauld World of Wings centre.

The massive bird, with a wing span of almost 10ft, escaped during a display last Tuesday.

However she was back safe and well in her enclosure this week after being found perched on a telephone pole near Slammanan by a vet who had worked in Africa and was convinced that the bird in question was a vulture.

World of Wings director David Ritchie was delighted to have her back at the centre and thanked everyone for their messages of support.

He said: "It was getting to the stage where we didn't think we would see her again. It is a terrific ending for us."
