A JACK Russell was attacked by another dog whilst its owner was taking it out for a walk in Croy.

The 57-year-old female owner took her dog for a walk along Constarry Road at around 12.30pm on Friday, October 5.

There was three Ridgeback dogs in the area at the time - two were on a lead and one was not, and the Jack Russell was attacked by the dog who was not under the control of its owners.

The small dog was taken to the vet for treatment and is said to be recovering.

But police are keen to trace the two suspected owners of the Ridgeback dogs who are described as wearing waterproof jackets.

Community Safety Officer PC Michael Duffy, of Cumbernauld Police Office, said: “By Scots law, dogs should be under the control of their owners at all times.

“You should have control of your dog and use a lead particularly when walking on paths and main roads.”
