A COMMUNITY engagement event has been organised to give Kilsyth residents the chance to view the proposals for a new health centre in the town.

The event is scheduled to take place in the current Kilsyth Health Centre at Burngreen Park on Thursday, October 25 between 11am and 7pm,

NHS Lanarkshire aims to give the public information on the proposals and allow them to ask representatives from the health board and the architect any questions they may have.

Graham Johnston, NHS Lanarkshire’s head of management services, said: “This is a major development which will cost something in the region of £8 million.

“We hope as many people as possible will take the time to come along and learn more about our proposals and give us their views.”

The new 2,157 square metre community health centre will house a wide range of services including GP practice, psychiatry, podiatry, physiotherapy, speech and language therapy and a NHS dentist practice.

The proposed location for the new centre is the site adjacent to the swimming pool in Kilsyth town centre.

Mr Johnston added: “Extensive work has taken place to ensure the building is appropriately sized and located and that sufficient car parking is available to support the new facility.

“If we are given approval to proceed, we hope to complete the new health centre by late 2015.”
