Maggie goes extra mile as a dryathlete

A wine-loving Abronhill woman is taking on the challenge of a lifetime by becoming a dryathlete.

Maggi Tennant will lay off the sauce for the whole month of January, and donate the money she saves to a cause close to her heart, Cancer Research UK.

Cancer Research UK is encouraging people across the UK to have a booze free January as part of their Dryathlon campaign, and aside from reaping the health benefits, the charity hopes to raise money to help beat cancer sooner.

The 55-year-old, who works in advertising for the News and Chronicle, has experienced first hand the effect that cancer can have on a family as both her grandson and daughter have dealt with the disease.

For full story, see this week’s Cumbernauld News or Kilsyth Chronicle dated Wednesday, January 9.
