Man and baby rescued from sinking car
DIFFICULTY: other drivers found it difficult to get around town in their cars.
A HEROIC passer-by saved a man and baby who were trapped in a car during the stormy weather last week which brought Cumbernauld to a standstill.
Police received a call to alert them to the car which was rapidly sinking at around 2.02pm outside Cumbernauld High School on South Carbrain Road on Friday, June 22.
But when they arrived a member of the public had rescued the pair in the nick of time.
A total of 50 calls were made to Cumbernauld police during the worst of the storms with people reporting everything from floods to alarm systems going off.
Cumbernauld weather station in Westfield recorded a month’s worth of rain in just one day.
