Man held in Cumbernauld police swoop

ARMED police descended on Wilderness Brae on Friday – in a quest for a wanted man.

The News & Chronicle has heard eyewitness reports of a man being held at gunpoint around noon.

It has emerged that the man had just checked out from a local hotel and was making to leave the town by car.

A spokesperson for Strathclyde Police said: “Following a police operation this morning in Cumbernauld a man is presently detained in police custody in connection with an ongoing investigation being conducted by the Metropolitan Police.’’
