More jobs in the pipeline

CUMBERNAULD firm Systems Aluminium Ltd (SAL) will be able to take on more staff and add to its 350-strong workforce, it has been announced.

The UK's biggest curtain wall contractor has been taken over by a Northern Irish construction company McMullen Architectural Systems in a multi-million pound deal.

McMullen has announced the acquisition, which, it says, will let the Cumbernauld company have a bigger share of the construction industry designer, manufacturer and installer of specialist windows and curtain walling.

Managing director Ted McMullen says he is confident about the company's future growth plans.

"We identified the need to acquire extra capacity and processes. SAL is widely recognised as a key player within the industry in Scotland and the North of England and we are excited about the addition of the company to the McMullen Group.

"The purchase of SAL will give us a manufacturing presence in GB and allow us to continue our growth in that market. We have received positive feedback from the staff at SAL who appreciate the benefits of being part of the McMullen Group and who have an understanding of our unique and specialist work".

Ted continued: "We are focused on investing in and growing the business and with a current workforce of over 350, we are committed to retaining staff and growing employee levels.

"Whilst we will be implementing our own systems and procedures we will also be benefiting from the expertise within SAL which will help us to meet the increased demand for high level technical design and innovation. We are looking forward to extending their team, building upon our current successes and delivering on challenging new contracts."
